I live in Canada and I have been travelling to India often for may years. I love the Indian Railways and travel by train every chance I get instead of going through airports. Each trip I take, I plan ahead for every train trip I want to take, and create my itinerary, and have all the tickets booked before I leave Canada, because I know I will not have the time to do the bookings after I reach India or change my itinerary to suit the availability of seats. The Railways website was one of the best I have seen, easy to find the train information, schedules, fares, and availability in just a few minutes for each trip.
I am planning another trip this year, and I am horrified at the new website. I do not mind the pop-up notification about cashless India, but it is almost impossible for me to get any closer to all the information I used to get before. One page shows only the train id and schedules. When I try to find fares or seat availability, the search leads me to another page which simultaneously announces that I must log in to go further and says that I cannot register. It seems to be totally impossible to use the website for any itinerary for a trip. Someone who designed and implemented this new horror of a website design should try actually using it.
